Stonewall Noise Orchestra: Salvation
29/04/13 || gk
This Swedish rock band has always been a bit derivative, taking their influences from 90s Monster Magnet, Soundgarden and the desert rock scene with mixed results and the occasional great song rising up from a level field of mediocrity. “Salvation”, the latest from the band, still suffers from the same problem but this time, the band seems to oscillate between modern rock and the stoner hard rock of countrymen Witchcraft and Graveyard. The result is another dull and bland record and I get the feeling these guys would be a lot better off just sticking to the modern rock sound of opener “Die, die, die” instead of constantly trying to incorporate elements of stoner rock and 70s hard rock that just sounds rehashed. Their previous albums had at least a song or two that would be memorable but even that is lacking on “Salvation”. This is an all-round disappointing effort from Stonewall Noise Orchestra and there’s nothing here that I can recommend.
4/10: Bland modern rock that wants to appeal to the stoner crowd.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
